Authentic Mexican food is difficult to find in Pinellas. It’s not impossible, but it takes some leg work. Luckily, Los Homies Taqueria on 49th Street North in Pinellas Park has you covered. This unassuming establishment started out as a food truck with a cult-like following and has since grown into a brick-and-mortar restaurant right up the street. If you’re looking for legit molojete and tortas, this is the place. The menu is inspired by the culinary flavors of Mexico’s Victoria City. Like many of our local eats, Los Homies is part of an unassuming strip mall off 49th Street and Park Boulevard. But if you drive past it, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Why You Need to Visit

The Mexican fare at this place is off the charts. We’re talking smashed refried beans, homemade enchilada sauce and scratch-made guacamole in the largest portion I’ve seen. If you’re a die-hard Mexican food fan, you need to visit Los Homies now. The menu is listed in Spanish as well as English (what’s come to be a sign of authentic Mexican in the area) and

UK food delivery driver who bit customer’s thumb “clean” off over pizza dispute pleads guilty

An English woman who was filling in for a friend as a delivery driver in the UK has reportedly pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm more than a year after a customer said she bit off her finger during a dispute. CBS News’ partner BBC News reported that 35-year-old Jenniffer Rocha bit the customer’s finger “clean” off in December 2022.

According to the BBC, Rocha was acting as a “substitute” delivery driver for a friend through the Deliveroo service when the incident occurred, meaning she was performing the work under someone else’s account. During his shift on December 14, 2022, 36-year-old Stephen Jenkinson of Aldershot ordered a pizza.

Rocha, however, attempted to deliver the food down the street from his address, and when he went to pick it up, he left his phone at home, leaving him unable to provide the delivery code number. He told BBC News that they then got into an argument, and at one point he raised his hand to Rocha’s motorcycle helmet.

That’s when she bit her thumb – and didn’t let go.

He said he was “shaking her helmet trying to get her off,” and when he finally did, he said he lifted his

Teamwork the key ingredient | The Star

Chefs’ personal recipes bring heritage to the fore in KL

A SPREAD of family favorites to enjoy from starter to dessert.

This aptly describes the iftar buffet spread at Serena Brasserie, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.

Teamwork was the key ingredient behind creating this spread, said sous chef Nazatul Nadzirah Jamaludin.

“The theme for this year’s buffet is the ‘Gift of Heritage’ because all the dishes here are family recipes shared by our kitchen team.

“At the planning stage, we started coming up with dishes that would appeal to our appetites.

“What we realized was that, no matter how far we may have advanced, our palates will yearn for traditional flavors such as sea snails in coconut turmeric or beef dendeng,” she said.

This year, Nazatul Nadzirah shares her family’s recipe for the whole barbecued beef shank, an impressive 18kg hunk of local beef hind, marinated overnight with 10 different herbs and spices then slow-roasted for eight hours.

The buffet starts at the entrance of the restaurant with three black cast iron woks, each with a different type of rendang.

The first is beef rendang tok with its
